The absence of JRE may not ordinarily affect the performance of Adobe
Reader, but Adobe Reader may work in conjunction with other applications
such as online learning courseware that require JRE. That is why I must
maintain JRE on my systems.

Because of its high vulnerability to hacker attacks, I uninstalled JRE
from my XP system some time ago, which did not affect the performance of
Adobe Reader in any way.  So I don't think installing JRE will resolve
your problem with Adobe Reader, and it could make your system less
secure.
