Thanks Reese,

I didn't know about the transfer wizard however I have not been successful
yet. I am moving from XP Home to Vista Pro, the programmes are a little
different but neither do they seem to work well for me.

I thought I might transfer the few MP3 files I wanted, a couple of Word
documents and my mail folders and saved messages. when I selected MP3 it
grabbed a huge number of CDs my son had recorded in Itunes, they are of no
use to me since Itunes isn't of use to me and isn't on this computer anyway.

That be as it may, several megs were compressed and stored on a memory stick
as instructed but then when that was inserted into this Vista machine and
the programme started there didn't seem to be an option to retrieve the .dat
file off of the memory stick. It told me to insert the media, I did, hit OK
then it kept going round and round until I closed the programme.

Anyway just knowing the programmes are there is a much better start. I can
manually move the files I need to except apparently the e-mail messages and
structure, there must be a way though.

I didn't have any real trouble moving the contacts using export and import.
