Have others encountered the following? I'm using MS-Word 2013 and the latest JAWS 17 release. (It was the same in earlier versions of JAWS 16 and 17):
If I create a new document, select the "title" style (Ctrl+Shift+S, then choose "title"), then type the text of the title: whenever I read the line containing the title, the braille display is blank, but the speech output reads the title as it should. If I create a footnote with Ctrl+Alt+f and start typing, none of the text that I type is displayed in braille as I enter the text of the footnote. If others can reproduce the above, I'll consdier writing bug reports and submitting them to Technical Support (unless someone else has already done so, of course).
