I use both; I do retrieve my mail through an e-mail client but can also use
their web interface.

Hello, Pete,
1. When you email a person, I believe the the address book adds the
ccontact, but if you want to change anything in the contact, you just
go to the Contacts link.
2. Yes, it is best if you use the Basic HTML version. The page is less
busy that way, and easier to navigate.
