Hello everyone. I am new to this list. I hope to learn more because I am a new computer user after not having one for twenty years. Unfortunately, there are no instructors in my area so I am often lost. Do you all know of a good place to find beginning tutorials for Jaws with Windows? I also would like to know your experiences with printers and scanners which are Jaws friendly since I need both. Just presently have Jaws 9 with a Del computer. Got software for Jaws ten but do not know how to install it. What I don't know about computers right now could fill encyclopedias! Any help will be greatly appreciated. I have one small braille guide which came with jaws, but sometimes don't know which is Windows command or Jaws, and had very bad instructor who eventually admitted she knows nothing about jaws but bills herself as an instructor in my area. I was told this by other professionals in my area after the fact after I'd tried instruction with her. She has done this to several blind people around here, and I didn't know it ahead of time. She also gave anything she found to me in print and I have no readers. Not much help. So friends I remain lost much of the time. Is it okay to experiment with Jaws pressing keys to find out what to do? I am afraid will mess up my ability to be online change configurations, or something since I haven't the slightest idea what I'm doing. Any suggestions for beginning tutorials for Jaws or Windows online will be apprciated. Have basic knowledge of the keyboard. Thanks for listening. Much of what goes by here, I don't even know what some things are for. Karen and Harpo a Seeing Eye Dog. I'm 54 years old folks, trying to learn all over again. Am using a braillenote to communicate with you, not my Del because I'm not good with outlook express, also had no instruction in its use. Need help with that too. Everything.
