Hi Jim,

I just realized something, using the steps I posted only stops Jaws from
saying, Link, but, Jaws may still read the rest of the URL. Maybe someone
will have a different work around. In the meantime you can try the posted
steps & see if they help.
Take care.
Mike

saying link when you read an article?

Thanks Mike. I get annoyed when I am trying to read an article and it comes
out
like this. Dr. Smith. Link 48584yjjj2020said that the flu.
Link4799riri-3333-8 was
very active in Los Angeles. Link u47748499rujh. I wish FS would come up with
a way
to let you read an article without all that other stuff in it. Some folks on
another list had some ideas, and I'll try them out, but FS should come up
with
something. Come on Erick, come to the rescue. Smile.
Jim

Hi Jim,

Here you go:

1. Press, Insert + 6, on the number row to open the Settings Center & press,
control, shift, + D, to open default all applications.
2. Arrow down to, Speech & Sound Schemes & press right arrow to open.
3. Arrow down to, Modify Schemes..., & press the spacebar to open.
4. Tab to, edit selected scheme button, & press the spacebar to open.
5. Control + tab to the control type tab & tab 1 time into the list of
control types.
6. Use first letter navigation pressing the letter, L, until you have, Link
Speak Control Type Using NormalVoice, highlighted & tab 1 time into the
behavior list.
7. Arrow down so that, Play Sound, is checked.
8. Tab 1 time to the, select wave file button, & press the spacebar to open.
9. Tab 1 time into your list of sounds to choose from. Arrow down through
this list & when you have a sound highlighted tab 1 time to the, play sound
button, & press the spacebar to hear it. If you don't like this sound,
shift + tab, back into the sound list & choose another sound & tab to the
play button, pressing the spacebar to hear it. Keep doing this until you
have the sound of choice you want played.
10. Now that you have your sound selected, tab to the okay button & press
the spacebar. Again, tab to okay & press the spacebar. Tab 1 time & press
the spacebar on the save selected scheme button. Tab to the okay button &
press the spacebar, & tab to okay & press enter. You're done. Now, you'll
hear the selected sound whenever you come across a link in any application.
If you don't want to hear a sound for link in all applications, Open the the
application you only want this applied to & follow the steps but, after
opening the Settings Center in the desired application, don't press,
control, shift, + D, just arrow down to Speech & Sound Schemes & follow from
step #2.

You'll see that there are other option like, save slected scheme as, create
new scheme, & delete slected scheme but, I didn't include all these added
steps. There may be a faster way to do this but, this is the way I achieved
this.

HTH
Take care.
Mike
