Tom, Another way to shut down or restart your computer when JAWS crashes is by pressing Windows Key+X, followed by the letter U. At this point, pressing the letter R will restart the computer and pressing the letter U will shut your computer down. I am not saying it is a better way, just another

Hi Brian, to use the touch cursor, hold down the shift key and press the + (plus) key ( PC cursor key) on the numeric. Then left, right, up and down arrows keys to navigate. Use the space key to activate the task you want to perform. Pressing the plus key twice will deactivate the touch cursor.

Hi Mr. Ed, The Insert + 6 keystroke works anywhere on my desktop computer no matter what program I'm in, or not in. Running Windows 7 Pro & Office 2010, but I don't run Outlook, I run Outlook Express, but Insert + 6 works in Excel, Power Point, & Word, as well as everywhere else. Take care.

Hi Mike, I had a word document open and the insert + 6 on the number row did not work. This key combination did not work in Outlook 2010 either. I had to go to insert + F2 to get to the settings center. The only time the insert + 6 worked was on the desktop. Is that the way it worked on your pc?

Jaws crashes on me 2 or 3 times a day but I have never needed to do a hard shut down. I can just wait, which may be 2 or 3 minutes and Jaws will start up again. I do notice that Jaws appears in the sys tray more than once after it restarts. Using Jaws 18, Windows 7 and MS Office 2013. I

Hi Robin, the next time that happens, instead of doing a hard shut down. Press Control+ALT+Delete, in a few seconds Jaws should speak, up arrow to shut down, press enter, down arrow to the restart, press enter. This is what I have done in the past to avoid a hard shut down. I hope this helps.

The JAWS cursor works on the Windows 10 machine here, except in some of the relatively new Windows 10 applications (e.g., Settings), where I need to use the Touch Cursor instead. I think this is related to how newer applications build their graphical interfaces. You really need to use the touch
