[JAWS-Users] Voices for jaws 2018 beta.
Hi, all Which vocalize works for jaws beta? I just got jaws 18 with a nice deal and I downloaded jaws 2018 beta. Want to check the voices that Erik mention in the podcast for beta 2018. Also can someone suggest settings to use that works better for W10. The last time I used jaws was 15. Was using NVDA but got slow, and has issues with IE which I found it to be a pain. Nice program but I am glad back to jaws. Hope I get some help. Holger Fiallo For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] arranging messages by date only in Outlook 2010
Hi, In the View tab, go to the Sort By option, and select by date. Additionally, in this menu of sorting criteria you can check the Show in Groups option to expand or collapse date ranges by pressing RIGHT or LEFT ARROW. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of JM Casey Sent: Monday, September 18, 2017 4:21 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] arranging messages by date only in Outlook 2010 Hello folks. I've looked for answers to this online already, and nothing quite seems to resemble my own personal experience, so maybe someone here can offer a quick suggestion. Right now, Outlook will display messages mostly in a chronological list, with the most recent on the bottom. This is good. However, it groups things together, by subject, and I discovered I can miss messages this way if I'm not careful. I'd like sorting to be done only by chronology, so that all my internet invoices for instance aren't grouped together in the list; replies to a thread only appear in the list according to the date on which they show up and not because they belong in a thread together. I hope this makes sense. I have read about the "conversations" view that started in this version of Outlook (I believe), yet the "conversations" button in the view tab of the ribbon . actually seems to be greyed out. So, maybe it's something much simpler I'm looking for, like "sort by subject". I have to admit that outlook's flagging, sorting and grouping features leave me scratching my head a little, in part because of the way JAWS seems to handle them. I'm probably just missing something straightforward. Anyway, I'm running outlook 2010, as said, and JAWS 18, with a pop3 style incoming server account. Any thoughts? Thanks. Yes, I usually just alter links that fragment by hand, but I guess that makes sense. Re: [JAWS-Users] Equifax CAPTCHA Work Around
Scorpio. That helps. I think you have to turn off the virtual cursor because that CAPTCHA is coded as an application and not a standard form, so the standard navigation keys won't work inside those edit fields. Chris -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Scorpio Sent: Thursday, September 14, 2017 5:33 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Equifax CAPTCHA Work Around Hi Folks, I’ve figured a work around for the Equifax Hack Check web page located at: Equifax’s TrustedID website The problem: reports have stated that when entering on the “play button” to start the audio CAPTCHA recording, there is no area or edit field to place the numbers you hear, simply a “verify” button, and a “help” button. The only edit fields on the page are for your last name, and the last six digits of your social security/social insurance numbers. Solution: Once you enter on the play button to run the audio file, turn off your virtual viewer with insert+Z and begin typing the numbers you hear. Once you’ve typed out the numbers you hear, turn your virtual viewer back on with insert+Z and arrow down to the “verify” button, as the tab key will skip over that button, though I’m not sure why at this point. I would suggest turning off key echo, as Jaws speaking will or might interfere in hearing the numbers properly, and you do have to solve the CAPTCHA multiple times for verification, and each time, you do have to repeat the above, but eventually, it does tell you that you are verified and the checkbox that identifies you as not a robot gets checked. Whether you choose to listen to the file multiple times, or download the file as an MP3, you still have to turn off your virtual cursor with insert+Z to enter the numbers. I was asked to solve a CAPTCHA three or four times, supposedly because it wanted to make sure I wasn’t a robot, LOL, but thank goodness, you only have to remember five numbers each time, otherwise this would be very difficult. Hope this helps. [JAWS-Users] list memo
OK folks, the list is now back on again. I hope this little cool down time has served its’ purpose. I regret having to do that because it effects everybody especially people who might have needed help over the weekend. The fact is sitting here and removing the offenders would give us a lot more work because some of them would return and then be on moderated and things would then start to settle down and then we have to change their status back to normal posting and this is a hobby not a job. Please do not respond to this message but simply move forward by getting back to what passes for normal around here. David Ferrin You don't have to be crazy to run a list like this, but it does help.
