[JAWS-Users] can't update win 10 laptop
I very seldom use the laptop but try to keep it up to date. With both jaws 18 and 2018 I cannot install updates. I did a search for check updates. I am told that there are 5 available. I can not find where to seledt or click on an update button. I have a list of the updates as a list. Where do I locate them for updating? Even when I go to shut down I am not presented with the option to update and shut down. I am about ready to give this laptop go good will. --- Please visit my web page It’s motivational, inspirational with a touch of humor There is also a very extensive resource list for the blind http://www.LennyMcHugh.com International Brotherhood of Magicians member #43990 For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [JAWS-Users] VFO's Pearl Camera offer
It can be used in conjunction with Openbook. It can also be used in conjunction with the newer Jaws 2018 OCR features. Unlike other USB cameras, I don't think you can use Perl outside of FS programs. - Original Message - From: "Tom Fairhurst"To: Sent: Saturday, December 16, 2017 6:14 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] VFO's Pearl Camera offer This may be a silly question. Can the Pearl Camera be used by itself, or is a scanner required? -Original Message- From: Adrian Spratt Sent: Saturday, December 16, 2017 3:46 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] VFO's Pearl Camera offer Steve, I realize my question sounded silly, but the Pearl is characterized as "portable." I suppose portable means you can shift it around your desk, but that's a more limited definition than I have in my head, which is something like "carryable," as in take it on trips out. But thanks for clarifying. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Steve Sent: Saturday, December 16, 2017 1:37 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] VFO's Pearl Camera offer Um, you can't take a photo with the Perl camera if you're away from your Pc. I'd be interested in any thoughts on the value of this device. For example, if I'm away from my PC, does taking a photo with the Pearl have any use? Also, how does the Pearl/JFW compare to the KNFB Reader or any other accessible OCR device? Thanks. If I'm not asking the right questions, please ask and answer them for me!! Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws upgrade still shows in demo mode.
Hi, Thanks for the info. I'll have to request a reset of my keys as I don't have any at the moment. I do entend to renew my SMA but did not have the money to do do both this time around. Thanks agakin. Hi When you start a new version of JAWS which is not covered by your current authorization, JAWS will start with a dialog asking you if you want to authorize that version of JAWS or run in demo (40 minute) mode. In order to authorize that version of JAWS, you must have an unused activation key that allows that version of JAWS. If you don't have any unused activation keys, you can go to the web site fsactivate.com to request a reset which will usually give you three activation keys. If you purchased A JAWS sma that allows the version of JAWS that includes the version you are running or higher, you can go to update authorization in the JAWS help menu to update your authorization keys. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of ilovecountrymusic...@gmail.com Sent: Saturday, December 16, 2017 09:07 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws upgrade still shows in demo mode. Morning all, Yesterday I ordered a jaws 2018 upgrade. I tried updating my authorization to reflect this. I however, jaws 2018 still runs in demo mode even after rebooting the system. I am using windows 10 1709 build 16299.15 if this matters. Do I need to have my activations reset for this to work? I don't have any activations left and never requested a reset. Would this have something to do with this? Any ideas on this one. Jaws 18 workks fine. Hi That is almost the same issue I have. I have a desktop with an external monitor and when I use the command to activate the screen shade feature, JAWS reports that it is on but it isn't working at all.
