Re: [JAWS-Users] Websites, links and clickables

Hi Jerry,

Below are a few notes on turning off, Clickable, but read through them
because there are 2 ways of doing this, & you want to make sure you're doing
it the best way for you.

Mike, I accidentally deleted your response before I could respond, so...

how to make JAWS ignore only the announcement of "clickable" without
affecting the other elements is to:

browse to a website that has occurrences of "clickable".
start settings center.
find and expand, speech and sounds schemes.
down arrow to and activate modify schemes.
Tab to, Edit scheme, & press the spacebar.
control+tab to html tab.
tab and down arrow to on click speak.
tab and down arrow to ignore.
tab to and activate ok.
at this point, the modified scheme needs to be saved and chosen to when
the browser is used.

In
"Settings Center"
under the
"Web / HTML / PDFs"
category, there is a subcategory labeled
"Miscellaneous"
Under
"Miscellaneous"
there is a setting labeled
"Indicate Element Attribute"
Unchecking this setting will stop Jaws from saying
"Clickable"
Although I would not recommend this since there are times when you will miss
out on elements of webpages that may be useful and are clickable.

I use web mail through hotmail. When I read my emails, it's constantly
saying "clickable clickable", after every line of text in an email message.
Is there a way to turn this off?
Kate

Hi Kate,
Are you talking about the "mouse over" command when you're on a webpage? In
case this is what you mean, there is a way to turn this off.

1. Hit insert-6 on the number row. This brings up the Jaws configuration
manager.
2. Now hit Alt-S and arrow down to HTML options, and hit enter.
3. Now, do the control-tab until you hear Misc Page.
4. Tab until you hear, indicate element attribute.
If this is checked, uncheck it with space bar.
5. Now tab to OK, and save your changes.
   That should fix it.

Hello members,
All of the websites I go on jaws version 15, says clickable. How to stop
this action. This is very annoying. Thanks very much.

you will get more help from others. but somewhere in jaws is the option to
turn
off clickables.
as far as i am concerned they are useless. none of the so called clickables
i
have incountered are even a link.
i turned this off but i can't find this option now.

Afternoon all.
I have been trying to open a link on my sons school website. However, when
II
arrive on a link, I hear “clickable”, and nothing happens when I enter on
it. I
cannot seem to open it via the Links menus either.
Suggestions/recommendations?
I am running JAWS 2018 and Windows 10 on a dell laptop. Thanks in advance.
