Hi all,
I have just joined this list with a new copy of JAWS 2018 installed on
a Windows 10 64-bit pc. It has been years since I used JAWS, so I'm the
next thing to a newby. I'm interested in the use of the Windows 10 mail
client with JAWS. Because of issues with the Edge browser, and the fact
I have jaws 2018 and the latest released version of the chrome browser. I
understand there is some kind of a reading and on or plug-in or whatever they
call it, that will enable you to get rid of junk on webpage and read the
article you want by using control shift l. I tried to find this in the
This message is directed at those folks who are using jaws 2018 with Firefox
and are audible subscribers. Audible offers the ability to return a book if you
don’t like it. When you are on the screen that is listing your audible orders,

I have downloaded the update for Jaws 2018 that came out today. Because
of issues I was having, I've been using NVDA exclusively, but I want to
install this build and see if it helps. Can I do so with NVDA running?
Is JAWS smart enough to know I have a
I have a friend who uses jaws and has made himself a playlist using iTunes,
latest version. He cannot figure out how to move songs around in the playlist
he made. Is this possible? If so, how? Thanks in advance.

Hi Rick,
I might have solved my problem by taking sent mail out of my favorites. When
jaws told me I was in the Messages list, I thought I was in my inbox, because
at some point I was. But it’s entirely possible that this messages list with
some sort of combined deal where sent mail was showing
Is there a users list for that product?

I’m guessing this question might be seen as a bit too general to be of interest
to the list. So please feel free to reply privately if you want. I don’t want
to clog the list with stuff folks don’t care about. I am curious about the J
dictate and J say. I read the blurb on Brian‘s website. I
I hope this is not off topic. I’m using the above named program with Jaws 2018.
On my old Windows xp machine with its equally old email client, this account
was set to pop3. That’s all the old email program supported. There was a
setting in that email client that allowed me to delete messages
I just read the help segment pertaining to convenient ocr. I have just one
question. I wonder if it is possible to save text that has undergone the ocr
process if a pdf file was the source of the original images or if you have
scanned a number of pages using a scanner or the pearl camera. The

Very much appreciated, Rebecca. I’m glad this is possible. I had actually
looked at the FS site about their Openbook program, although I’ve been a K1000
user for a very, very very long time. But it looks like OB doesn’t run
under win-10 based on what I saw, which would be a show stopper for
rks similarly to Siri on IOS.

Hi all,
I have found the keystrokes that allow you to change the rate of the current
voice on the fly, that is, without entering into the Jaws voices menu. But I’m
not seeing any means of changing voices or languages within a given speech
profile, assuming the one you pick has multiple

I have read the jaws help regarding using jaws with acrobat acrobat reader.
There was no mention made of using the find command, but since it works in HTML
documents on the Internet, I assumed it would also work in PDF files. So if I
do a control F, then type in a word or phrase I know is in a
Is anyone on the list using this combination? It seems like it would be pretty
ideal for totally portable use. I know you can get the type cover for the
surface, and I guess as such things go, it’s OK. But I’m wondering about using
a regular USB keyboard with it. Or how is it if you just want
I am considering the purchase of a Dell XPS 13 laptop. I have heard remarks on
other list about problems with the waves Max audio and screen readers,
particularly regarding speech being cut off. That would not be something I
would be willing to live with, so I wonder if people have experiences
This is a bit off topic, I guess, because it concerns the Focus 40
display scrolling feature. I have a friend who recently purchased one of
these displays and described the auto-scrolll feature working well with
JAWS. My question is whether it works in other situations, not just with
JAWS. For
Hi Melanie,
Sure. Unfortunately, my braille printer is not functioning at this time, but I
can certainly take notes and present whatever. And if you want to talk about it
and make whatever special emphasis points you want to, that would be great. It
looks a lot like last years it seems to me.
I am sorry. I have no clue how this message ended up on this thread. It
was not suppose to do that, obviously.

My experience with Reader view on Firefox ESR is abysmal. It might read one
little short paragraph. It never goes well on articles that are split up by
multiple add frames. That’s why I read most things on my iPhone. Safari on

Is there a way to access links within a Kindle book? You can't just
press tab, as that takes you out of the book to the table of contents.
Cookbooks are often loaded with links, and it seems like they should
provide a way to move from link to link.
