We experienced this yesterday on Linux/jdk1.3.1_01 for the first time. JBoss used all available memory during deployment, then crashed. We were able to deploy with a 'normal' memory footprint by forcing JBoss to run without passing the '-server' flag to the jvm (run.sh line 109). Still not sure
