[JBoss-dev] Eclipse and JBoss branches question

2004-04-23 Thread Vladyslav Kosulin
Hi all,

I have a question on how do you configure Eclipse to work with both JBoss 4 and
JBoss 3.2 branches?

Is it possible to work with both branches from the same workspace?

Both branches have projects with the same name, and I can't import these to the
same workspace.

I could create separate workspaces for JBoss 4 and for JBoss 3.2, but this is
not very convenient, because there is no way to make the workspace setings
syncronized automatically. After I make changes to one of it, I have to repeat
the same manually for the second one.

Thanks,
Vlad

It looks like JBoss Group should consider to create a new subproject to handle

Re: [JBoss-dev] Cluster aware Scheduler

All,

I am looking for a cluster aware scheduler service. The scenario is that
I have two JBoss instances running in a cluster and I have a scheduler
service running on one of them since it is fatal if my schedulable
object would be invoked twice on both instances. But also I would like
to have a failover which means that in case the instance which is
running the scheduler service is going down I want another instance in
the cluster to take over and activate the scheduler.
Is anything in that direction already available? From looking into the
source I did not see anything. If not I would like to implement some
kind of HASchedulerMBean. This could work the way that you would deploy
your scheduler service with StartAtStartup = false and the
HASchedulerMBean would invoke the start depending on which server is
available in the cluster.
Sacha: Do you have a tip for me where to look in the clustering classes
to get a head start?
Thanks,

The benefit for design and development discussion is clear. You can very
easily get the whole history of the discussion thread in front of you (or
several threads). Even if the discussion occured 6 months ago and you were
not there then to read through it.
My personal preference is nntp + web interface (Google?) for nntp
archives search.
Mail list + downloadable or searchable (Google?) archives is on the
second place.
And I hate web forums as tool for serious discussions.
This is why I do not understand why you are so happy with using nukes ;-)

As for user support... there are more people registered to the forums than
are subscribed to the mailing list -- but then the mailing list users are
die hards who want all the information pushed to them. Most forum users
prefer the occasional pull. I don't think the forums fail on their promise
in any way.
I do not remember if forums require separate registration, but ifg you
mean registered users of iboss.org, this not fair comparison, IMHO.

P.S. Do you know that there are java source files licensed under GPL

the CVS HEAD? Are you surprised?

P.P.S. Why am I so sure that OpenEJB developers who joined the Geronimo

[JBoss-dev] JBoss 3.0.5: jbossweb-ejb.jar for datasources with name differentfrom DefaultDS

2003-01-10 Thread Vladyslav Kosulin
I am playing with JBoss 3.0.5 from CVS and have found that if I use the
datasource name different from DefaultDS, I have to modify jaws.xml and
jbosscmp-jdbc.xml inside the jbossweb-ejb.jar.
Should we distribute this as directory instead of archive?
Or better is it possible to remove/comment these default values from
this jar and use default values from /conf directory?
