Originally I defined my application-policy in the server's conf/login-config.xml. I defined the "usersProperties" and "rolesProperties" that were contained in the EJB. Later on I decided to move that configuration to a sar file. I found that the sar's META-INF/login-config.xml did not appear to accept my "usersProperties" or "rolesProperties" configurations. As a result I had to comment out those module-options and use the default roles.properties and users.properties files. It is a relatively minor bug but took time.
