The error I got was caused by what seemed to be a typo in
testsuite/build.xml. With this typo the testsuite build was
failing on both jdk1.3 and jdk1.4. After I've fixed it, I
still got a compilation error on jdk1.4 (at a later point),
but build succeeded on jdk1.3. I was in a hurry, so

newbank stuff related to the fact that 1.4 defines a throwable 'cause'
property in Exception and newbank has an exception class with an
