I had this problem also. its a linux/ipv6/Jgroup issue.
try adding this java VM option
java -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

I guess the problem it is not with the configuration. I was using the same
configuration with JBCache 1.3 and it was working fine but when I replace the
libraries was when I got the exceptions. Any other idea.

what's your config ? You want to look at the JGroups config, especially at
bind_addr and mcast_addr to see whether they point to a valid address
