RE: [jBoss-User] Container exception. Notify the containerdevelopers (2)

2000-11-23 Thread Tim Squires

The offending method in an entity bean is:

  public Hashtable getAllValues()
throws java.rmi.RemoteException
  {
Hashtable allValues = new Hashtable();
allValues.put( "Id", Id );
allValues.put( "Name", Name );
return allValues;
  }

When I call it from a local bean, it throws the container exception:

company thiscomp = (company)i.next();
Hashtable thiscompvals = thiscomp.getAllValues();

Hope this all helps. I've got a demo soon so I'm going back to the getXX
calls for now to make it work.

RE: [jBoss-User] Container exception. Notify the containerdevelopers:-) (another?)

2000-10-11 Thread Jörg Schorr

Hi,

sorry, actually I had the mistake only when another EJB was calling it (and
not from a servlet for example).
It was coming from a mistake in the ejb-jar.xml, because by mistake my
ListManager was the only one where the transaction was set to 'Bean' and the
others were set to 'Container'.
That's the reason, now whether it is normal or not I cannot tell... I
haven't checked the spec.

Thanks a lot for your answer,
jorg

PS - do you still want me to check if [ListManager] Cannot import
transaction .. appears somewhere?

Hi,

This really worries me. A NullPointerException should not be
possible where it happens, but obviously it is :-(
This is a serious problem in the transaction code I've had
my dirty hands on...

Do you get this exception every time you do this, or only
sometimes?

Just before the start of the log included below, do you have
a message saying something like:
[ListManager] Cannot import transaction ..

Any information that will help me to kill this bug will be
most appreciated.

Re: [jBoss-User] Container exception. Notify the containerdevelopers:-)

2000-10-08 Thread Ole Husgaard

Hi,

I've committed a few bugfixes that should make at least some of
these exceptions go away.

One of these fixes are to the transaction manager: If a user
used the setTransactionTimeout(), the resulting timeout would
be 1/1000 of what is expected.
If you did this, that would explain why you had all these
transaction timeouts. But if you used setTransactionTimeout(),
my fix could hide the org.jboss.ejb.EnterpriseContext.unlock()
exception below. If this is the case, please hack the line in
src/main/org/jboss/tm/TxManager.java that says "timeOut = " to
have the value you specified in your call to
setTransactionTimeout(), and avoid calling setTransactionTimeout()
in your next test. A bit tricky, but then we can kill another bug
that just _might_ bite you if your server ever gets heavily
loaded.

Best Regards,

Ole Husgaard.
