Hi,
Does anyone use tags with jdee? I fail to see the point of them. And it
seems to add an extra layer of complexity, i.e. constantly updating the tags
table. Or is it that I just don't get the tags concept?

I am using the following versions:
jde 2.2.9beta7
speedbar 0.13
semantic 1.4beta12
eieio 0.16
The speedbar doesn't show tags for source files when
expanding. I noticed that it happens only after
loading jde or semantic. Before that, tags for both
c and java files are shown.

variable:dynamic-tags-function-list. Apparently that's the only needed
variable that does not exist in that old file. Just delete the old one,
point back to your site-lisp package and go (easy to say after chasing it
for a day).
