2016-04-20 Thread jieryn
This should be on the jenkinsci-user list, not on the jenkinsci-dev list.

Jenkins Distributed Builds are unrelated to Apache Maven parallel builds.

Regarding Jenkins Distributed Build Vs Maven Parallel Build

2016-04-20 Thread Foyzul Hassan
Hi All,

For our research work we need to build large open source projects and in
that regard we are planning to have distributed Jenkins build system. But I
found that maven is already providing parallel build support. So, we
thinking about advantage of Jenkins Distributed build over maven parallel
build.

Can you please clarify the advantage of Jenkins Distributed build over
maven parallel build as for distributed build there are some infrastructure
cost for distributed build?

Hi,

FWICT, looking at last commits, actually Michael Donohue seems pretty
active on this one (in CC). And last release in only 1.5 month old.
And one week old is still not that long for a PR.

@Michael: do you still work on that plugin as a maintainer? If so, please
confirm here. And also, would be better to update the block in
the pom.xml so that the wiki page is up-to-date wrt maintainers.

Thanks!

Re: Missing component in Jira

Interesting. Also shows you missed the lines where we say the artifactId
should neither contain jenkins, nor plugin

...

So, I just bit the bullet and created the component with the same non
standard naming in the issue tracker.

If you could consider renaming while you have still relatively few users
(25 installations worldwide), that would be great.
If so, please ping us before doing so so that we can help you double-check
it.

Thanks

Missing component in Jira

2016-04-20 Thread Steve Springett
For some reason, one of my plugins does not have its component defined in Jira,
so it’s not possible to create tickets for it.

The component is fortify-cloudscan-jenkins-plugin

https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Fortify+CloudScan+Plugin

How can I go about fixing this?

Sorry for the delayed response, I was finding a lot of gremlins in our previous
update center generation process.

As of this morning, the update center is being updated and has been properly
migrated to a new host.

With the migration to newer infrastructure, the generation time has dropped
dramatically so I've updated the frequency that the data is generated. Now
every 30 minutes we should be generating fresh update-center.json files.
(Unfortunately updates may still take some time to propagate to secondary
mirrors.)

I'll be sending more infra updates out soon

Plugin to use git commands on script pre-build step

2016-04-20 Thread Vincent Domingues
Hello,

I'm looking for a plugin that's allow me to use *git commands* on a *pre-build
script step* to perfom some controls.

Actually before launching a build, i want to check if all the reports have
been made for this i need this command :

git merge-base --is-ancestor

I have mad some search and i may be i don't need a plugin but i hope you
can tell me.

I have been thinking about installing git on my jenkins server and slaves
and i'll be able to perfome my git commands on the workspace ?

Thank you in advance.

Vincent
