However, the decision to remove the init+fetch was not accepted at the time I suggested it. The reasoning for init+fetch was due to needing abillity to use the git credential store inside .git/config which does not exist when you perform a clone. This can be fixed using the GIT_SSH and GIT_ASKPASS programs as I did for fixing submodule credentials issues among other related problems. I would promote removal of the git init+fetch combination due to this, as the original reason for this workaround should no longer be valid. We are on Windows Server 2008 R2 with Jenkins 1.647 and Java 1.8.0_73-b02. The jenkins process is still running when this happens. If one attempts to access the web dashboard, the jenkins process remains at 0% CPU while the java process consumes 100% of one of the cores. A restart of the jenkins service fixes the issue, but this has become a daily annoyance. I've turned on all logging to see if I could determine the culprit and here's what the log shows as the last few entries. I think there is sufficient ability for plugins to add to a global library already - by providing a GlobalVariable extension
…but we still need an API to allow DSLD/GDSL generators to know that a given variable has a type given by a specific Groovy resource, so they could have a chance at offering strong typing. For example, if docker-workflow is installed, you would ideally like IDEA to be able to complete docker.image('maven').ins to inside.

FutureImpl.cancel() doesn't cancel the job linked to the Future object, as executor set is always empty. It's supposed to be filled in WorkUnitContext.createWorkUnit() but it's not executed on the Executor thread, unlike the comment suggests:

This breaks build cancellation from Jenkins CLI. When a build is started with -s parameter, it's not canceled when the CLI process is interrupted. The CLI handling code in BuildCommand correctly calls FutureImpl.cancel() but nothing happens, as executor set is empty.
