It starts will randomly start happening after some a Jenkins restarts restart and will consistently occur until a subsequent restart. This smells like a race condition related to plugin loading at Jenkins startup. Hello! Since this last change, our logs have been flooded with this message ("Unexpected error when retrieving changeset"), which makes it much more difficult to see other "Severe" logs. I think that alone should elevate this issue from "Minor" to at least "Major" priority. Is there any plan to reinvestigate the possible root cause of the issue and fix it? Or, as a stop-gap measure, change the logging level to WARN?

We have the same need, tried some hacky stuff (failed), and asked about it on the #jenkins IRC channel, but it seems to not currently be possible to use this plugin in a declarative pipeline project. Indeed, the documentation only mentions Freestyle, Multi-configuration, or Maven as the explicitly-supported project types. Even so, when attempting to use it as documented I seem to run into JENKINS-49819, so I'm completely blocked from using this plugin at all.
