That's not a problem -- that's actually in the subject line. It means
it's in reference to a previously posted message.

outlook express and jfw two werid problems

1999-08-28 Thread siobhanm

Hi listers. The first question I have might have ben asked before. Here
goes: when selecting outloot express from my start menu, jfw won't say
checked as it does for things like win explorer or internet explorer.
Second, when I am in my inbox, sometimes jfw will say re when reading a
subject for instance re tow weird problems.Any fixes for either of these
would be helpfull.
Siobhan.

It's not necessarily true that you will be taken to the next message
immediately following a deletion of the current message. In some versions
of Outlook, at least, this was configurable and you had the choice of
being advanced to the next message, being taken to the previous message,
or being returned to the Inbox list.

Hi, Mike. Sorry if someone has already answered this. If you open a
message, read it, then press control-d. The next message will automatically
be displayed as long as you don't close it, otherwise you'll be brought back
to the list of message titles.

Re: Outlook express and jfw

1999-05-28 Thread Gerald G. Weichbrodt

The quickest way I can see is to open the Outlook Express scripts with Insert+0.
Press F2 repeatedly till you get to the SayHighlightedText function. Then look
downward through the function for the line

Say(msg_UnreadMessage, ot_message);

Place a semicolon at the start of that line to prevent the statement from executing.
I think that's all you should need to prevent the message from being spoken as you
cursor through your InBox. I hope this works for you. I'm basing this on the Outlook
Express scripts that came with the latest patch to JFW 3.3.

Cheers,
Jerry

Hello,
OE4 does just the opposite for me: I'm automatically put at the opt message.
When I exit from each body of a message, when I get back to the message list biew, I
hit the Del key & the next message below is spoken & I know from experience that the
previous one is deleted even though it doesn't tell me so.
Great mystery.

Yes, hit the home key before you start reading. For some unexplicable
reason, the last message is always selected when you enter a mailbox
in Outlook Express.

Re: Outlook express and JFW

1999-05-25 Thread Rose Combs

Why hide the preview pane? I tried it, but when pressing enter to
read the message, I note that the speech often skips around, rereads
lines and acts strange on two different synthes

I read all my messages inthe preview pain, pressing control D after I
have read it, JFW begins reading the next message in a
straight-forward manner, and pressing spacebar brings up the next
screen. Only time I really press enter in a message in the list is if
I get some sort of indication there is an attachment, and, if someone
sends a blank message with an attachment, I never check the
attachment, they have to at leas put something in the message.

Your milage may vary, but thisworks well for me, makes reading
messages faster since I don't have to refresh the screen as often,
either with the insert-escape combo or the plain F5.

Hello all,

I am experimenting with using Outlook Express with JFW. It seems to work
pretty well, but I was wondering - does anyone know how to change it so
that when you delete a message, it automatically opens the next message? I
went through the configuration options under tools | options and couldn't
find the setting.

Just wondering if anyone might know...

Thanks,

Re: Outlook express and JFW

1999-05-25 Thread Gerald G. Weichbrodt

I don't know of any specific setting that causes the next message to appear when you
delete the previous one.

Just curious: Are you reading messages by pressing to open them? If not, I
would recommend using that approach. I ask because you could be tabbing over into the
preview pane, conceivably. The HJ folks recommend hiding the preview pane and reading
messages by pressing on the highlighted message in the message list. To hide
the preview pane, open the "View" pull-down menu, cursor down to "Layout", and press
. Then tab through the Layout dialog box and make sure "Show preview Pane" is
not checked.

One other thing, I find that a new message only appears if I press Control-D on a
message and there is another message listed after the one I'm deleting in the message
list. If I'm deleting the last message in the list, then I wind up back in my inbox.
I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Jerry

Re: Outlook express and JFW

1999-05-25 Thread Lee Maschmeyer

I don't read every message in my mailbox so I haven't used this often enough
to stress test it, but I did discover that if you're in the preview pane
when you delete a message, JFW will automatically read the next message.
Reading in the preview area does not mark a message as Read, but if you're
deleting it anyway it hardly matters. Or you can have everything
automatically marked Read when it is displayed.

To make the preview area as large as possible I dragged the split line up so
that only one message at a time appears in the message headers list.
