Perhaps I am missing something here. But isn't the appstart message just the anouncement of the cursor shape? When a new app starts the cursor changes to a hourglass with an arrow. Isn't JFW just announcing this mouse shape just as it does for arrow, I beem, etc.? I, like you, went to the jfw3.3 folder with the "find" program in toe. But, no "app start" was found. A few weeks ago Dennis Brown was looking for the same information; maybe he had better luck.
