What does "*" and "?" mean ?
Custom Clock gets notifications when a refresh starts and when it has
finished, so I could probably use these notifications to implement an
item type that could indicate it.
Although, it would probably be preferred if it was also possible to
retrieve the refresh state from SDT, I wonder if that's available ?

In the "standard" SuperDateTime, there is some indication that it is
updating weather information, and whether it was successful ("*" and
"?" in display). Is there way to add something like that for the
Squeezeplay/Jive displays? I realized the intermediate SDT version
wasn't updating correctly only after I saw messages on the forum, and
then noticed my weather screens were still displaying information on
days past. Since my Boom was out-of-service at the time, I didn't see
any obvious indication that there was a problem.

If no "interval" has been specified the visibility group is has a hard coded visibility time according to the "visibilitytime" attribute. If "interval" has been specified and "visibilitytime" is empty, it means that the visibility time for the group will be calculated automatically as "interval"*. Anyway, it sounds like you want to look at the "interval" attribute. tcutting;549731 Wrote: > > I tried the "step" item, and also changing "visibility group" settings. > I ended up not having separate visibility groups since I was able to > reduce the number of individual items and the "d1-d5" periods setting > gives the periods I am interested in. > "step" needs to be used together with "offset". The idea is if you would like to display both d1 and d2 simultaneously and switch continuously to show d3 and d4 simultaneously, you should be able to set it up like: item1 (period d1-d4): step=2, offset=0 item2 (period d1-d4): step=2, offset=1 This means that: - item1 will first display d1 and simultaneously item2 will display d2 (since offset=1) after a while (interval attribute) it will switch to instead be: - item1 will display d3 (since step=2) and simultaneously item2 will display d4 (since offset=1) For weather I'm not really sure it's worth the trouble to use step and offset, it might be easier to just do as your previous version of the style and use visibility groups and a specific period value (instead of using d1-d5). For sport where the number of items differs, step/offset is your only option if you want to have switching views that show multiple rows. I'm aware that the configuration of switching screens with visibility group can get quite complex but I mad the decision that the flexibility might be worth a bit more hassle during configuration. For complex styles with many items I personally usually do the editing in a text editor and use the import function to import it when I like to test it. Using the web interface isn't very user friendly if you want to move around a lot of items during configuration to position them correctly. If you use a text editor and the import function seems to hang, it means that your file contains some syntax error. The JSON syntax is really sensitive regarding extra comma characters, new line at the wrong place or missing quotation characters. If we want to ease the configuration I suspect it's probably easier to do a standalone design application that produces a JSON configuration file which you can import. tcutting;549731 Wrote: > > Some other comments: > The "sdtweathertext" items for temperature don't seem to display the > "degree" symbol anymore. > You will have to add it separately in the formatting keyword. It's handled in the macro replacement routine in sdttext item but sdtweathertext is more generic and isn't aware which attribute it displays, so I can't add it because my code doesn't don't know that it displays a temperature value, it just a string delivered by SDT. tcutting;549731 Wrote: > > Also, when I get the "tonight" temperature, it seems that the "low" > temperature is getting placed where I would expect "high" temperature > to be. > I am enclosing the exported Custom Clock file if you care to play with > it. > I need to look at the configuration, it's probably just some positioning parameter that's incorrectly set. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive
Re: [SlimDevices: Jive] Wanting to port SuperDateTime to Touch - need help
Erland- I am trying to use some of the new features of Custom Clock + SDT, and have some questions and comments. I've tried using the "sdtweathertext" using the multiple periods setting (d1-d5). I haven't, however, figured out how to set how long each item remains on the screen. I have several lines of SDT items I want to cycle through, but timing seems erratic. I tried the "step" item, and also changing "visibility group" settings. I ended up not having separate visibility groups since I was able to reduce the number of individual items and the "d1-d5" periods setting gives the periods I am interested in. Some other comments: The "sdtweathertext" items for temperature don't seem to display the "degree" symbol anymore. Also, when I get the "tonight" temperature, it seems that the "low" temperature is getting placed where I would expect "high" temperature to be. I am enclosing the exported Custom Clock file if you care to play with it. Thanks! Re: [SlimDevices: Jive] Wanting to port SuperDateTime to Touch - need help
Greg, do you have a lot of things left before you feel ready to make an official release ? I currently plan to make a new release of Custom Clock during the next day or so unless I find some problems. It would be great if we could get an official release of Super Date Time soon so people can start designing Custom Clock styles with weather, stocks and sports information. The hash based custom items aren't critical to me, I've made a temporary solution through Custom Clock Helper that solves my problem with my Mail and MythTV plugins. I'll integrate them with Super Date Time later when you have finished the implementation but it's not important for the initial release. I'll attach the latest versions with this post in case someone likes to help beta testing. It should now skip visibility groups which doesn't have any items. I've made two new sdt related item types (sdtweathericon and sdtweathertext), sdtweatericon is pretty much exactly the same as sdticon, sdtweathertext is similar to sdttext but the difference is that it reduces the number of round trips to the server a lot, it gets the complete wetData structure once instead of making a server call per item. I'm not really sure if this is needed but it made sense when I realized that some of the styles posted makes a lot of server calls when the screen saver is activated. Together with Screen Switcher applet this makes it even worse since it means that these call can potentially be repeated every 5'th second if you make it switch continuously between Custom Clock and another screen saver. The sdtweathertext and sdtweathericon also have another feature in common with the other sdt items, you can configure them to switch or scroll between the different days. You do this by setting the "period" to "0-2" or "d1-d5". It should make the configuration a bit easier for styles that want to switch between the different forecast days. I wonder if I should have local mapping between the attribute names and the standard % keywords used for weather in SDT so I can use the same % keywords in sdtweathertext ? The disadvantage is if you add a weather keyword in SDT I'll also have to modify Custom Clock. The sdtweathermapicon now also have clip attributes so you can show only a part of a weather map provided by SDT, for example zooming into your region. There are some other exiting news in this version and related applets/plugins but I'll announce those when making the official release in a day or two. +---+ |Filename: CustomClockHelper-2.8.3172.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9959| +---+ -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

These are available as parameters in Custom Clock Helper but I don't think they are set in the standard menus. I suspect it might not be possible to set them in the standard menus without patching the Logitech source code. I think we might have to use static icons in the menus which use one set of icons and animated icons in Custom Clock which uses another icon set. In Custom Clock "framewidth" specifies the width of a single sub image and "framerate" specifies the animation speed as number of frames per second. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

Re: [SlimDevices: Jive] Wanting to port SuperDateTime to Touch - need help
Patrick,
Those lines of code choose an icon for the main menu of a SqueezeOS
device, not the list of icons in the screenshot that you're referring
to.
Icon 32 just happens to be the "Full-Sun" icon, and was easy to
select.
Check out these subs:
SUB SDT10DAY
and
SUB SDTFORECAST
They present icons on these lines:
>
> 'icon-id' =>
> 'plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/'.$wetData{'d'.$i}{'forecastIcon'}.'.png',
>
> 'icon-id' =>
> 'plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/'.$wetData{$i}{'forecastIcon'}.'.png',
>
I believe what you are seeing is a loong skinny version of your
.png file - there doesn't look like there's any code in the plugin to
handle animation or frame sizing.
Unless I'm misunderstanding something, you need to put the animation
code in Custom Clock, since it's not refreshing very often.
Maybe I'm missing something and there's an Animated Icon structure in
SqueezeOS? Otherwise Erland will need something to cycle through the
frames, and SDT will have to tell Custom Clock that each icon is
animated or not, right?

Greg,
can you change the name of sdt icon. these will conflict with the
animated icons. if you name is sdt.png and add an extra image the
problem is solved (i think)
Code:
my @menu = ({
text => 'SuperDateTime',
'icon-id' => 'plugins/SuperDateTime/html/images/32.png',

Code:
my @menu = ({

Re: [SlimDevices: Jive] Wanting to port SuperDateTime to Touch - need help
Wanted to post an updated Custom Clock for Radio with SDT forecast. It's based on something I posted a while back on the Custom Clock thread, but I am using several of the new features: SuperDateTime integration showing current weather and several future periods of forecasts. The forecasts make use of the "visibility groups" to cycle through. I also added the "sleep" icon. There's no custom background graphic - I think there's already a lot going on here, so it's just a simple black background. +---+ |Filename: OffClockSaver_SDTWeather - radio.txt | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9946| +---+ -- tcutting tcutting's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17402 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

I like the idea. I'll likely have to get there in baby steps. Attached is the first step. I added a simple addCustomDisplayItemHash sub. It takes three arguments- group name (top key of miscData), item ID (next level of miscData), and a hash ref of all the items. I could have also just taken one big hash instead of three arguments, but my other external subs operate per display item so I figured I'd be consistent this way. Per Mike's thoughts on sport game-level icons I added an optional gameLogoURL key. It's just like the home and away team logo URL keys. External plugins can specify whatever logo they wish by including 'gameLogoURL' with the other items when calling addCustomSportScore. If one isn't specified a blank image will be shown from the Jive Extras menu. For fun right now I'm showing the home team logo for MLB games. I like Mike's idea to have it show the winning team. I'll look into that for the next version, but would expect that logic to be applied (if desired) by whatever plugin is adding the data in the first place. Greg, I've been thinking (I know, I need to stop that) about the sports with two teams. It might be cool to show the logo of the team that is winning, or if it's final, the team that won, otherwise show a blank image when the score is tied. It would give a visual that might be easier to see than the scores themselves from a farther distance. And it might be fun to see the logo change as the games go on, hoping that your teams logo is the one that shows at the end. What do you think? Hi Mike-
Currently in the extras menu I only support icons at the top level.
Not game level. However, I do pass the game level icons to Custom
Clock and it will show them if configured to do so.
>From the extras menu I show one game per line. Since there are two
teams per game and you can only show one image per line I opted to just
show a blank image. In your case of making one player per game an icon
makes better sense. I could probably add an optional game-level icon
and use that if set. Thoughts?

Hi Greg.
I was trying to add a little image of the golfer next to their name and
can't get that to work.
I set it like this:
$pgaHash{'awayLogoURL'} =
"http://mdmplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/images/Matt Jones.jpg";
Do you see any problems with that? I was thinking that would show up
to the left of the name on the screen.

Re: [SlimDevices: Jive] Wanting to port SuperDateTime to Touch - need help
Greg, I did a little experimental plugin which scrapes the www.goalwire.com site for sport results and hook into SDT and noticed a few things. As far as I've understood I need to re-implement the complete settings interface if I like to select to subscribe to scores from a few specific teams. It would be great if my sports data somehow could pop up in the SDT settings page since I suspect you already have the configuration logic. Another thing I noticed is that the current sport structures for scores aren't useful for sports that have several sub scores, for example tennis where you want to display games for each of the sets. Is there any way to handle this ? It's not critical because I decided to skip Tennis because it was harder to get that information from the site because it had a bit different layout. If anyone want to try this early beta of the plugin it's attached to this post. I'm sure there are tons of legal issues related to this, so I'm not sure this plugin ever will be released as a non beta version. +---+ |Filename: SportResults-0.1.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9916| +---+ -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

Just let me know, if you want to add it to SDT or not. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

Yesterday I had looked in /var/log/messages and didn't see anything. I think I figured it out though. On that SBS I had previously used the extension downloader to download CustomClockHelper. When I went to install the latest copy I just unziped it directly into the plugin directory and restarted. I didn't uninstall the older version that the extension downloader puts in a different location. I thought all was fine because the plugin screen listed the correct version, but when I went to edit clock styles it didn't have all the latest options. I went ahead and removed both copies and then reinstalled the latest and everything seems fine now. Ugh! In playing with this more, one suggestion for improvement and I'm not sure how easy this would be... if there are no sports games going on to skip visibility items/groups that contain them. Thoughts? Only two options I know are to SCP it onto the controller or create your own repository file and host it on a web server. There are details on both methods on the wiki. Please note though, I haven't been able to get the latest version of the CustomClock applet to run on a Touch (haven't tried a controller yet). As such you probably won't have any luck either. In the mean time you can use SqueezePlay though. If you're not familar with it, it's basically a software emulator that acts just like a touch or controller. Installing the applet is as easy as copying it into a directory and starting the app. There is one problem though, if you're using Windows there are currently issues with getting CustomClock to work with Squeezeplay. Sorry... all these obstacles. I ended up installing an instance of Ubuntu Linux on a VM just to get access to a version of Squeezeplay that works with Custom Clock. I decided to do it that way to allow additional flexibility. It's a simple call. Three options- They'll already be in miscData if you're doing an addDisplayItem call. You can add them to sports via the addCustomSport call. You can also make elements available via custom macros. -Greg -- GoCubs GoCubs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=312 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

Re: [SlimDevices: Jive] Wanting to port SuperDateTime to Touch - need help
Here is a new Custom Clock/Custom Clock Helper version, I've now replaced the sdtsporttexticon item with a sdtsporticon. You will have to place each different part individually, it will be a bit more complex but the result is worth it. The code got simpler and it's now possible to create a layout exactly like you want. Also, the visibility groups now show their items according to the visibilityorder attribute, items with the same visibilityorder are activated simultaneously. I've also changed the sdtsporttext item so you use formatting keywords instead of hard coding the string. Custom Clock Helper has a combo box with predefined keyword combinations so you can see that's possible. If you add another attribute in the JSON response, it will be immediately available as a formatting keyword. I think it should be very easy to use the same formatting keyword principle for stocks, so I'll probably throw together a "sdtstocktext" in the next version. I've included a stupid sample style so anyone that wants to try have something to experiment with. The scores in the screen shot is hard coded, do don't get confused about the actual values. This version feels pretty good, so if anyone wants to design a style with the new sdtsporticon and sdtsporttext items which we can bundle with the release, feel free to do so. +---+ |Filename: sdtsporticon.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9881| +---+ -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

Yes, here's an example with custom content (CTA Bus Tracker) and long
weather forecasts (enabled from SDT settings->long weather frequency).
Basically there will be a different toplevel key for the content type.
The next key will be a unique identifier, usually just a unique number.
For each identifier there will be line1, line2, and type items. Type
can be short or long to indicate if it's a long text screen or a
shorter item.
Code:
{
'CTABusTracker' => {

Thanks for quickly looking into this, I appreciate it. This version
now works with my Ubuntu installation. It now lets me into the
CustomClock settings screen on Windows too, but when the screensaver
turns on using one of the SDT controller layouts it crashes
SqueezePlay. No errors are listed in the Squeezeplay logs.
I'll play around and let you know additional feedback on this version.
Attached is my latest SDT. It includes the various fixes discussed in
this thread and other minor tweaks. I also added a day view chart
image URL for the stocks json. I might also be able to add company
icons for individual NASDAQ stocks. I haven't found a good source that
includes nonNASDAQ stocks.

Yes, I know I'll be duplicating data by flattening them, but I think it makes it easier for the user to just select a logo type in a list box and I'd prefer to not have to hard code the actual names. At the moment I show all attribute names in the structure that: - Starts or ends with "logo" (case insensitive) - Starts or ends with "icon" (case insensitive) - Ends with "url" (case insensitive) So as long as you naming principles follow these rules it should work. If your third party API supports custom attributes besides the "line1" and "line2" it will also mean that a third party plugin can add multiple logos on the bottom level if it likes to. I understand that this probably doesn't make sense in most cases and probably not on the Classic players, but it would for example make it possible for a third party plugin to provide stocks data with three images (day chart, month chart, quarter chart). -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive
Re: [SlimDevices: Jive] Wanting to port SuperDateTime to Touch - need help
Hi Greg. Things are going pretty good with the Extras menu now for the golf plugin. Still tweaking it though. This weeks tournament will start tomorrow so I'll need to see how it behaves during the tournament. Looks like I need to call delCustomSport every time my plugin refreshes to clear out the previous data. Currently I'm not and now I see that last weeks tournament still shows up in the menu in addition to this weeks. I suppose that could be considered a 'feature' but I think I'd rather clean up the previous weeks tournament. Otherwise I'd have to restart SBS to get rid of the old data. As far as getting my data into the Custom Clock world, what are my options? Are the custom macros my best bet? Will my scores by able to be scrolled along with the other sports scores that you provide? -- Mike Meyer 'My Last.fm Page' (http://www.last.fm/user/malmeyer) 'PGAScores' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47480) & 'CollegeHockey' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=55731) (SuperDateTime Add-ons) Mike Meyer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1832 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

Not enough hours in the day though. :) I believe it sorts based on the gameID specified for each game. As such specify these in a manner that will achieve the sorted results you desire. Whenever you call addCustomSportScore the 'sport' parameter is used to as the toplevel menu name for your content. Whatever name is displayed there is automatically displayed on top when you drill down. If you don't want 'PGA' then you'll need to use something else on the top level too. -Greg -- GoCubs GoCubs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=312 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

Like you have shown there you'd just substitute your variable name
where the string is.
Within your code you can also use the hash location instead of a
dedicated variable. Both can be used to store string data.
Code:
my $sport = 'soccer';
my $gameID = 'Game1';
...
my %mikeHash;
$mikeHash{'sport'} = $soccer;
$mikeHash{'gameID'} = $gameID;
...
addCustomSportScore(\%mikeHash);

Re: [SlimDevices: Jive] Wanting to port SuperDateTime to Touch - need help
If anyone one like to try the sdtsporttexticon item which supports the logos, it's now available in a beta version in the attached Custom Clock/Custom Clock Helper version. The sdtsporttexticon is a combined item which consists of: - Home team logo - Home team name - Away team logo - Away team name - Game time - Separator characters It's possible to select "horizontal" och "vertical" layout and you can select if you want all or just some of the items to be visible. I've attached a screen shot together with a sample clock style which you can experiment with. This version of course requires Greg's latest beta to work. The scores aren't shown on the sample screen shot because the US sport events takes place when I'm a sleep. I'd like some feedback if you think the current approach with a combined item for this is preferred or if you would prefer to place the individual parts exactly as you like. Placing the individual parts will probably be more complex for some users, the combined item is for example a bit easier to move around and position exactly as you like it on the screen. From a development point of view I think the code would get a lot simpler if I handled them as individual parts and let the user handle the layout completely. Another thing that I'd also like comments on. The sdtsporttextitem only supports a switching single line row, so there is no way to do a layout with multiple games shown on the same screen as it is with the sdtsporttext item with noofscores>1. It is of course possible to design several sdtsporttextitem that iterates through different filtered lists, for example showing one item with MLB games and one with NHL games, or showing one with finished games and one with currently active games. Is this good enough or do we need something similar to the sdtsporttext item with noofscores>1 ? This version should hopefully also work in SqueezePlay on Windows, with my testing it seemed to still be some strange issues with more complex styles using the analog clock and rotating images, but it seems to work for SuperDateTime screens in my brief tests. I suspect I will do some adjustments on the configuration before doing an official release, so you can spend type experimenting but I can't guarantee that any sdtsporttextitem style designed in this version will be compatible with the official release. There is a new "teamorder" attribute available to solve the backware home/away order in the previous version. So you can select which order you like to write them and which separator character you like to use. +---+ |Filename: SDT Sports Sample - touch.txt| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9868| +---+ -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

Oops, I did a mistake on my example. It'd be nice to support icons at
ANY level.
{'CTABusTracker'}{'22'} = *.png should have read
{'CTABusTracker'}{'22'}{'icon'} = *.png
If you plan to flatten the data structure I can use unique icon names
at each level if you prefer. As I'm sure you're aware, by flattening
the data structure on your end you'll be duplicating data.
Please let me know if I should rename some of these icon keys.
Thanks

Hi Erland- I played with this a bit. I think you're right in that the data refreshes are colliding with presentment. When I have MLB set to all games at 5second interval I get many duplicates. I'd recommend only refreshing when SDT notifies you that a refresh is complete. Like you said it'd be ideal to do some sort of smart merging. I also tried setting up stocks in a similar fashion to games. Would it be possible to implement the same logic on cycling all stocks if visibility time is null? I haven't tested this a lot yet, so there might be some bugs, help testing it is greatly appreciated. Scrolling items aren't handled correctly, so if you have set the "scrolling" parameter on a sdt*text item, you will have to specify a longer interval to make sure it's displayed long enough. If the game list are updated it also doesn't stay on longer, this could be a problem currently as I think the game list is refreshed every minute. Like you > said it'd be ideal to do some sort of smart merging. > The attached version should hopefully work a bit better: - Data refresh are performed at screen saver activation and when refresh notification is sent from SDT - After a refresh the previously active item are still active if it's in the list, if it's not in the list it starts over from the first item. - Non sdt items in the same visibilityorder as a sdt item will not get the same visibility time calculated as the longest sdt item in the same order number. Unless anyone find a very disturbing behavior with the above logic, I think this is the one I'm going to use. More advanced merging could be done also but I'm not sure it's worth it because it gets complicated to implement and you will anyway see the new items the next time. Also, the order might be important and if I merge things the order is probably going to be messed up. The above logic should work pretty good as long as the currently shown game/stock is removed during the refresh. Unfortunately, there seems to be some bug in the Logitech part that stops the scrolling when an item is shown after it has been hidden. Due to this it's not recommended to use scrolling items together with the visibiltygroup logic. You will basically only see the scrolling the first time and only if the item is shown initially when activating the screen saver, at least if it behaves the same as it does on my system. +---+ |Filename: CustomClock-2.8.3135.zip | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9908| +---+ -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

I was originally going down that route of making the two lines

how Erland would implement it. He'd likely want to make it a new

For example if it's showing MLB scores then have a configurable MLB text box and/or icon. When it switches to NFL, NHL, etc then change accordingly. SDT on non-Jive displays does that now. Could we have unique keys on each level ?
For example:
Top key- {'CTABusTracker'}{'icon'} = *.png
UniqueID-{'CTABusTracker'}{'22'}{'uniqeIcon'} = *.png
Lines- {'CTABusTracker'}{'22'}{'line1'}{'line1icon'} = *.png
{'CTABusTracker'}{'22'}{'line2'}{'line2icon'} = *.png
The reason I'd like that is that I'll merge this into a single hash in
my code, that looks something like this:
Code:
'22' => {
'type' => 'short',
'icon' => *.png -- CTA Bus Tracker logo
'uniqueIcon' => *.png -- Unique id logo
'line1Icon' => *.png -- Line 1 logo
'line2Icon' => *.png -- Line 2 logo
'line1' => 'CTA Bus Tracker',
'line2' => 'NB #8 Halsted - 19 min'
},
My logic will be:
- The actual attribute names won't matter, anything works as this is
just a value which the user specifies in Custom Clock Helper. Unless we
deside on exact names, I'll just display an empty combo box for now. I
could probably read values from SDT and include anything that starts or
ends with the word "logo" or "icon".
- If the same attribute exists on several levels, I'll be using the one
on the lowest level
- If the attribute starts with "http" I'll presume it's a complete url,
else I'll read it from the local Service by prefixing it with
"http://ipaddress:port:/";

Hi Erland- Have you tried running a recent version on a physical Touch player (not SqueezePlay)? Today I tried manually SCPing this version directly onto a physical Touch and I'm not able to get the CustomClock applet to start. I've tried many times with no luck. Attached version makes use of SBS settings for time formatting of upcoming games. I anticipate I'll end up moving this to a SDT setting as I'm sure people will complain if they have their time set to show seconds that they don't want seconds shown in gametimes, etc... This version also adds additional non-game data elements to the miscData hash with line1 and line2 elements. This can include long weather forecasts if they're enabled, weather alerts, and any line1/line2 items that a custom plugin added via addDisplayItem. I've gotta run to be with the family for Mother's Day but I'll try to post an example today although the layout is pretty self explanatory. Re: [SlimDevices: Jive] Wanting to port SuperDateTime to Touch - need help
Greg, what's the possibilities to integrate other kind of weather information as third party plugins ? I just realized that the Norwegian weather site yr.no which have very accurate weather data for north sweden has an open API: http://api.yr.no/#english I can understand if you don't want to integrate this yourself as it's probably not as accurate in your area, can I do this as a separate plugin that integrates with SDT ? Can I do it as a "misc" data or is there some API towards the weather data ? Is the "misc" data limited to the "line1" and "line2" items or can a third party plugin that uses the SDT api have any attributes in the misc data structure ? Can I provide weather maps from a third party plugin ? -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

Thanks Greg. That's what I was looking for. I was planning on passing
in variables instead of strings and can't figure out the syntax for that
either.
Looking for some flavor of this:
$mikeHash{'gameTime'} = $Player;
Erland, if you beat Greg out here feel free to chime in. I know it's
basic stuff.
Thanks again.

Is CTABusTracker a custom item that exists or is that just a sample of
a possible misc item someone could implement sometime in the future ?

not)

Hi Erland- I'm playing with a screen that cycles between weather and sports. I'm having an issue where I want my visibility group to cycle through all the teams before moving to the next visibility group. Would it be possible to add logic that if the visibility time for a visibility group is blank that it will cycle through all of the games each for x interval time before moving to the next visibility group? The visibility time can't easily be changed after the item is shown in the current solution, because the logic is based on ordering the items within the same visibility order, so I think we might want to ignore this special case. For scrolling items, we would probably want to make it wait until it had scrolled though the whole item but I'm not sure how easy that's going to be to implement. Another issue is if you have a non switching item in the same visibility order as a switching item. If the items decide for them self how long they are going to be displayed, this means that the non switching item will be displayed a lot shorter than the switching item. So in this case all items with empty visiblity time should probably calculate their own time, but if it's shorter than the item with the maximum visibility time within the same visibility order, they would use the maximum visibility time instead. Anyway, I agree with you from a user perspective, but I think I would prefer to add this kind of functionality in a future version since it will get a bit complex in some cases and requires some time to be implemented correctly. Maybe you could just set the visibility time a bit longer at the moment to make sure it works fairly good in most cases ? -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

I tried the custom macro integration with CustomClock yesterday too and
it worked as expected.
I switched to the hash ref as it's more efficient. Instead of Perl
making a copy of each data element in memory it just sends a single ref
to the entire hash.
Example:
Code:
my %mikeHash;
$mikeHash{'sport'} = 'Soccer';
$mikeHash{'gameID'} = 'Game1';
$mikeHash{'gameTime'} = '2:00pm';
$mikeHash{'homeTeam'} = 'USA';
$mikeHash{'homeScore'} = 5;
$mikeHash{'awayTeam'} = 'Brazil';
$mikeHash{'awayScore'} = 1;
# optional team logos...
addCustomSportScore(\%mikeHash);
Hope this helps.

Greg, On the Extra screen, under my PGA sub-menu, how are items sorted on that page? For my golf scores I would want to sort them based on tournament position. i.e. 1,2,3,4. The tricky part will be when there is a tie for a position (T3). Will this be possible? Currently, on the SB3 & Boom, items show up on the screen in the order I send them. Seems like the Extras screen is doing some other sort. Also, when I go into my PGA sub-menu, the top of the screen says PGA. Would I be able to put the tournament name up there instead? Making progress on the Extras menu, then I'll go back to the Custom Clock. Yes, I have a number of external API functions that enable you to do just that. Please refer to http://gregbrown.net/squeeze/sdt-api.htm for some of the subs. I need to update it for some of the recent additions/enhancements. This thread also contains details on a new sub to add a custom weather map. Search for CTABusTracker for a recent example or Mike's plugins at http://code.google.com/p/mdmplugins/ . Basically you can add your own custom macros or sliding display text that also makes it into miscData. -Greg -- GoCubs GoCubs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=312 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive

Have you tried the latest version which I posted in a > earlier post in this thread today ? Do you get the same problem ? Think our posts crossed. Please refer to my other post. On Linux I installed Squeezeplay in /opt/SqueezePlay. It didnt work on the old version (which I downloaded via repo). The new version works (which I manually installed). -Greg -- GoCubs GoCubs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=312 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77864 ___ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/jive
