I am interested in everyone's experiences with this new java release
on Macs, especially anyone who, like me, is still using OS 10.5.
On my MacBook Pro, Jmol reports java 1.5.0_30. (I do all Apple
Updates as they become available.) Everything seems to have been
working well for quite some time
Doesn't it repor to the system console?

I have done it again. There mere action of posting to this list unblocks
something. So in OS X, there is a new system preference, listed in "other"
and labelled Java, where the console (off by default) can be switched back on
again.
Now I just have to get Chrome running again with Java.
