ps -- remember that for simple molecules with only a bit of Jmol
functionality, JSmol provides "JSmolLite" which can deliver a molecule with
only a 40K footprint. So one mobile option would be to provide pages that
do that.

Richard, if you are saying that the JSmol HTML5 version, though JavaScript,
is not really mobile friendly, I agree. A 2-MB download itself is not
particularly mobile friendly, and I am not sure to what extent phones cache
downloaded files. (Anybody know?) If they do not, then that's a serious

I see no reason why "the Jmol applet-based stuff will not be convertible". Can
you explain?

I just want to sample opinion on the (security etc) status of Java in
relation to Jmol applets.
On my website I have quite a few (old) files based on this
