It's probably not a bug, but a technical limitation.
Echos work as I suggested, if drawn objects do not, there must be a
difficulty.
A feature request, if any, not a bug. But possibly it cannot be done,

not sure of this, but have you tried
color draw cyan
before doing any draw operation?
I'd expect that to set the default (at least it works for other non-draw
objects)
