Thanks, Marko! I've tried gpscorrelate and it does what I need.
The only issue is I'm not always sure about the time syncronisation.
It's much easier to play with the time delta in a GUI app to set
everything right.
For merging GPX files I use gpsbabel:

Recently, I've started photo-mapping, and found JOSM very useful for
aligning the pictures along the track.
But I think it would also be useful if JOSM could export the
coordinates back into the images, so that they could be used in the
future for some other projects, like
I was also annoyed by the need to describe the changesets. Especially
yesterday, when I had to do 5 attempts to upload a changeset - and
every time I had to type in a description.
So remembering the last description would make things easier.
