He also said to them, "Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power." This text is understood by some scholars to signify the coming of Gods kingdom in and thru the Church.. Thus there were many christians who experienced the pentecost episode and thus saw the kingdom of god come in power thru the church which is the body of Christ.. Another explanation is also possible.. The early Christians expected christ to return very soon..so they were always alert awaiting his return..this belief is expressed thru the words of jesus in this passage.. where it is mentioned that jesus will come again in glory and inagurate his kingdom on earth.
