Anyone in love with or hates AJAX/JSON/REST? If so why? Highly Cohesive and Loosely Coupled

We are partnering with a company that is in love with AJAX/JSON/REST. Very impressive results very rich. The downside as I see is the disconnect from the HTML, like the early days of servlets before JSP. With JSP you can mock something up in HTML and convert to JSP in small testable increments
