Here's a Thanks to Tom for putting together a fascinating Lisp
presentation on a moment's notice. I loved the subtitle, "Longevity
Secrets of an Ancient Language", or something like that. I look
forward to seeing his slides up on the JUG site.
An interesting self-contained study of Lisp is found in Grady Booch's
"Object Oriented Design with Applications", FIRST edition. Booch
works through five OO-design examples, each in a different language:
Smalltalk, Object Pascal, C++, Ada, and the reason I mention it, a
blackboard-based cryptanalysis system in CLOS, the Common Lisp Object System.
I was about to speculate that you can probably pick up Booch 1e on
Amazon for a few bucks but I see the book has maintained its value --
$45.98 used! sabio.arizona.edu says "In library", however.
For the November 11 meeting, I believe we've got Andy Barton booked
for a field report on iPhone development. Andy: Any advance comments
about what you've got in mind?
