[jug-discussion] stepping down in feb.

2005-11-10 Thread Warner Onstine
Well, since I let the cat out of the bag at the meeting I figured I
might as well let the rest of the list know. I have decided to step
down as President of the JUG for a variety of reasons, but the most
being that I feel it's time for someone else to have a chance at
running this organization.

Not all of the details have been ironed out yet, but I will still be
helping to manage the JUG in some fashion and will volunteer my
services as presentation coordinator.

Who will be taking over for me? I was hoping that we could some rules
into place about nominating/electing a new President and whatever
other positions we feel we need to run the organization. My hope is
that we can get this solidified by January's meeting so that we could
hold elections at that meeting.

I truly have enjoyed being a part of this group and very glad that
you all have tolerated me running this for so long. I'm still amazed
at the caliber of people that we have attracted to our little berg
and feel very fortunate to have met you all (no, I'm not going
anywhere, I just wanted to express the sentiment).

Anyways, I figure this is as good a time as any to go ahead and get
the ball rolling so the floor is available for comments :-).

I think it went pretty well considering the change in venue. TR wrote
down the list of restaurant possibilities for December's holiday
party (hopefully he can post those so everyone can voice their
opinion on them).

We also have a very interesting speaker possibly lined up for January
(once it's finalized I'll send it out to the list).

And everyone got a little taste of Gravy, err Groovy.

So -- how'd it go?

I didn't show up because I've been sick the past week, and on top of

What's on the plan?
