NG-MVPN is supported on the MPC's. Granted, there are some
issues when

Hello Mark,
What kind of MXs do you have this working on? MX80 or on some of the others
in the family?
I am asking because I was told P2MP LSPs were not supported on MX240/480/960
with MPCs.
Also when considering DPCs/MPCs there seems to be no support for IEEE
802.1ah-2008 on MPCs.

MX480.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts!
NG mVPN is supported on the Trio based line cards.

Hi everyone,

were to go for MX480 would you order it with MPCs or DPCs. Also if your
network were to have MX80s as well which are Trio based would that influence

My personal opinion is that it depends on the situation. If you want any of the
higher density cards or any of the newer interfaces you are going to have to go
MPC. We have a large number of MXs of varying size and I made the decision to
remain DPC based as opposed to mix-chassis (as I couldn't
For a given port count 8, MPC 3D 16x 10GE is cheaper than the
alternative configurations that yield a similar count. So when driven by
10Gbe density considerations (or linecard count) you're going to end up
with MPCs.
