Quick question, for validation more so than anything else - am I right
in saying that Juniper BGP route reflectors won't import routes
belonging to VRF routing instances?

I'd have to say that's definitely incorrect.
As long as the VPNv4 NLRI is configured between the two peers and
negotiated correctly then the BGP RR will accept VRF routes in VPNv4
route format (route_distinguisher:prefix/mask).
On Juniper routers these routes are stored in the bgp.l3vpn.0

unfortunately, last night we experienced a total outage of our network.
After having logged in using out-of-band access, everything was just normal:
* bgp sessions were up(all but multihop sessions)
* full-table was installed
* all interfaces were up
* there has been no reboot from

vrf-table-label statement on the routing-instance.
