I'm not sure if there is one, but if you want to execute the cell, you can
do that by pressing Escape, Enter (or the combination Alt-Enter on some
systems).

It no longer appears automatically, but you can still see it by pressing
shift-tab.
There were concerns that looking out for parentheses was language specific,
when the notebook was trying to be language agnostic.
