All mail has downloaded to pc ok, and according to the data settings on my
phone the foreground data usage is 193mb. I assumed that's the emails
themselves, the background data usage is 1.92gb.

I'm sorry. I misunderstood you. You meant data usage over your network
not local data storage. My bad. Do you have a particularly large email
that is failing to download due to the data limitation setting so it keeps
trying to download that over and over again? That might explain it.

I empty the trash regularly, I have to keep sent for reference but they're
not so many...and this is sudden, I've checked data usage for last 6
months, all about the same. Vodafone say it's all been today!

But now it has used 1.73 GBin 36 hours – what’s going on? My monthly data
allowance is almost gone in 2 days!
I will have to uninstall if this is an ongoing issue - has anyone else had
