I have submitted an issue on github about this. I am seeing the same thing. I have looked at the raw text message and it seems as though the multipart boundary starting with an equal sign is the culprit. I forwarded a problem message to myself and k9 mail has no trouble with it. The forwarded message does not start the multipart boundary with an equal sign.
