That's a good idea. I just used my work credentials instead of comcast and
it works great on K9 mail. K9 sends and replies to emails with those
credentials so it might be a certificate issue with Comcast. I'll try to
delete an account and try that with the comcast credentials again and see
I think you might be right. This does not feel or seem like a K9 mail
issue. I think it's Comcast.

Might be a certificate problem. Might require you to delete the account in
K-9, the re-add it, to make it (and Android) look at the certificate and
give you choice to accept or not.

credentials in K9 Mail on 3 different android phones and still does not
work.

Try another client with the same credentials, i.e. Gmail app or Thunderbird
on the PC. You''ve got to troubleshoot before giving up. Capitalization
doesn't matter in smtp addresses (or any other domain names).
