I am running the latest k-9 with the latest openkeychain. It is no longer possible to just sign messages to people for which you have a public key, you can only encrypt your email. You dont always want to encrypt your email because then it becomes non searchable, however you do always want to sign it.
It is also no longer possible to sign email to people who's public key you dont have.
