ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ ೩೧ ರಂದು ಹೊಸವರ್ಷ ಎಂದು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ರಾತ್ರಿ ೧೨ ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಡಿಸ್ಕೋ,
ಪಬ್ಬುಗಳ ಕರ್ಕಶ ಸದ್ದು, ಕುಡಿದು ಕುಣಿಯುವ ಹುಡುಗರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹೊಸವರ್ಷವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುವುದು
ನಿಮಗೆ ಸರಿ ಅನಿಸುತ್ತದೆಯೇ? ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ನಿಜವಾಗಲೂ ಹೊಸವರ್ಷವೆಂದು ನಮಗೆ
ಅನಿಸುತ್ತದೆಯೇ? ನೀವೇ ಇದರ ಕುರಿತು ವಿಚಾರ ಮಾಡಿ. ನಮ್ಮ ದಿನದ ಆರಂಭವು ಕತ್ತಲು, ದುಃಖದಿಂದ
ಆಗಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ಅನಿಸುತ್ತದೆಯೇ? ಹಿಂದೂ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನುಸಾರ ದಿನದ ಆರಂಭವು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ
ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂದೂ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯನುಸಾರ ನಾವು ಯುಗಾದಿಯಂದು ಏಕೆ ಹೊಸವರ್ಷ ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಎಂದು
ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿದೆಯೇ?

ಯುಗಾದಿ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುವುದರ ಮಹತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರಣಗಳು

ಎಲ್ಲ ವರ್ಷಾರಂಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಯೋಗ್ಯ ವರ್ಷಾರಂಭದ ದಿನವೆಂದರೆ ‘ಚೈತ್ರ ಶುಕ್ಲ ಪ್ರತಿಪದೆ.
’ಜನವರಿ ೧ ರಂದು ವರ್ಷಾರಂಭವನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಕಾರಣ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಯಾರೋ
ಒಬ್ಬರು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಿದರು ಮತ್ತು ಅದು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ತದ್ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಚೈತ್ರ ಶುಕ್ಲ
ಪ್ರತಿಪದೆಯಂದು ವರ್ಷಾರಂಭವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಲು ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕ, ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ
ಕಾರಣಗಳಿವೆ.

ನೈಸಗಿಕ ಕಾರಣಗಳು: ಸರಿಸುಮಾರು ಪ್ರತಿಪದೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂರ್ಯನು ವಸಂತ – ಸಂಪಾತದ ಮೇಲೆ
ಬರುತ್ತಾನೆ (ಸಂಪಾತ ಬಿಂದು ಎಂದರೆ (ಮಕರ) ಕ್ರಾಂತಿವೃತ್ತ ಮತ್ತು ವಿಷುವವೃತ್ತ (ಕರ್ಕಾಟಕ)
ಈ ಎರಡು ವೃತ್ತಗಳು ಯಾವ ಬಿಂದುವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಭೇದಿಸುತ್ತವೆಯೋ ಆ ಬಿಂದು) ಮತ್ತು ವಸಂತ
ಋತುವು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಎಲ್ಲ ಋತುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಕುಸುಮಾಕರಿ ವಸಂತ ಋತುವು ನನ್ನ
ವಿಭೂತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಭಗವಂತನು ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ಭಗವದ್ಗೀತೆಯಲ್ಲಿ (೧೦:೩೫) ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಈ
ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಶೀತೋಷ್ಣ, ಉತ್ಸಾಹವರ್ಧಕ ಮತ್ತು ಆಹ್ಲಾದಕರ ವಾತಾವರಣವಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಶಿಶಿರ
ಋತುವಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಗಿಡಮರಗಳ ಎಲೆಗಳು ಉದುರಿ ಹೋಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರತಿಪದೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ
ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಚಿಗುರು ಬರುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಗಿಡಮರಗಳು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಾಣುತ್ತವೆ. ಯುಗಾದಿ
ಪಾಡ್ಯದಂದು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುವ ಹೊಸವರ್ಷದ ಕಾಲಚಕ್ರವು ವಿಶ್ವದ ಉತ್ಪತ್ತಿಯ ಕಾಲಚಕ್ರಕ್ಕೆ
ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯು ನವಚೇತನದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ತದ್ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ
ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ ೩೧ ರಂದು ರಾತ್ರಿ ೧೨ ಗಂಟೆಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುವ ಹೊಸವರ್ಷದ ಕಾಲಚಕ್ರವು ವಿಶ್ವದ
ಲಯಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದೆ. ಯುಗಾದಿ ಪಾಡ್ಯದಂದು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗುವ ಹೊಸವರ್ಷದ ತುಲನೆಯನ್ನು
ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯಕ್ಕೆ ಉದಯವಾಗುವ ತೇಜೋಮಯ ದಿನದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು.

ನಿಸರ್ಗದ ನಿಯಮವನ್ನು ಅನುಸರಿಸಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಪೂರಕವಾಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ ಮತ್ತು
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಹಾನಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಆದುದರಿಂದ
ಪಾಶ್ಚಾತ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಗನುಸಾರ ಜನವರಿ ಒಂದರಂದು ಹೊಸವರ್ಷಾರಂಭವನ್ನು ಮಾಡದೇ, ಯುಗಾದಿ
ಪಾಡ್ಯದಂದೇ ಹೊಸವರ್ಷವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಮ್ಮ ನಿಜವಾದ ಹಿತವಿದೆ.

ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಕಾರಣಗಳು: ಈ ದಿನದಂದು ರಾಮನು ವಾಲಿಯನ್ನು ವಧಿಸಿದನು. ವಿಜಯದ ಪ್ರತೀಕವು
ಎತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಧ್ವಜ ಎತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ದಿನದಿಂದಲೇ
‘ಶಾಲಿವಾಹನ ಶಕೆ’ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಈ ದಿನ ಶಾಲಿವಾಹನನು ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ
ವಿಜಯವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದನು.

ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಕಾರಣಗಳು : ಬ್ರಹ್ಮದೇವನು ಇದೇ ದಿನದಿಂದು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದನು.
ಅರ್ಥಾತ್ ಈ ದಿನ ಸತ್ಯಯುಗವು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ಆದುದರಿಂದಲೇ ಈ ದಿನದಂದು ವರ್ಷಾರಂಭವನ್ನು
ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಯುಗಾದಿಯಂದು ತೇಜ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಜಾಪತಿ ಲಹರಿಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ
ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರತವಾಗಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಸೂರ್ಯೋದಯದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಲಹರಿಗಳಿಂದ ಪ್ರಕ್ಷೇಪಿತವಾಗುವ
ಚೈತನ್ಯವು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಮಯದವರೆಗೆ ಉಳಿಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದು ಜೀವದ ಜೀವಕೋಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ
ಸಂಗ್ರಹವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆಗನುಸಾರ ಆ ಜೀವದಿಂದ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತದೆ.

ಯುಗಾದಿ ಪಾಡ್ಯದಂದು ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಕೃತಿಗಳು

ಯಾವುದೇ ಹಬ್ಬ ಬಂದರೆ ಆ ಹಬ್ಬದ ವೈಶಿಷ್ಟ್ಯದಂತೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯಂತೆ ನಾವು ಏನಾದರೂ
ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತೇವೆ, ಆದರೆ ಧರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದಂತಹ ಇಂತಹ ಪಾರಂಪರಿಕ ಕೃತಿಯ ಹಿಂದಿನ
ಅಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಗಮನದಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅದರ ಮಹತ್ವವು ನಮಗೆ ಹಿಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿ
ನಾವು ಯುಗಾದಿಯಂದು ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಕೃತಿಗಳ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯೋಣ.

ಅಭ್ಯಂಗಸ್ನಾನ
ಯುಗಾದಿ ಪಾಡ್ಯದ ದಿನ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಬೇಗನೆ ಎದ್ದು ಮೊದಲು ಅಭ್ಯಂಗಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
ಅಭ್ಯಂಗಸ್ನಾನವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ‘ದೇಶಕಾಲಕಥನ’ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.‘ ದೇಶಕಾಲಕಥನ’ ದಿಂದ ಅಹಂ
ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗಲು ಸಹಾಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ತೋರಣವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವುದು
ಸ್ನಾನದ ಬಳಿಕ ಮಾವಿನ ಎಲೆಯ ತೋರಣವನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸಿ ಕೆಂಪು ಹೂವುಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲ
ಬಾಗಿಲುಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟಬೇಕು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಕೆಂಪು ಬಣ್ಣ ಶುಭಸೂಚಕವಾಗಿದೆ. ಸಾತ್ತ್ವಿಕ ತೋರಣದಿಂದ
ಚೈತನ್ಯ ಪ್ರಕ್ಷೇಪಿತವಾಗಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣಾಕವಚ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ಪೂಜೆ
ಮೊದಲು ನಿತ್ಯಕರ್ಮ ದೇವರ ಪೂಜೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ‘ವರ್ಷದ ಪಾಡ್ಯದಂದು ಮಹಾಶಾಂತಿ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
ಶಾಂತಿಯ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮದೇವನ ಪೂಜೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಬ್ರಹ್ಮದೇವನು
ವಿಶ್ವವನ್ನು ಈ ದಿನವೇ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿದನು. ಪೂಜೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ದವನವನ್ನು (ಸುವಾಸನೆಯ
ಎಲೆಗಳನ್ನು) ಅರ್ಪಿಸಬೇಕು. ಅನಂತರ ಹೋಮಹವನ ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣಸಂತರ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ತರುವಾಯ
ಅನಂತ ರೂಪಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವತರಿಸುವ ಶ್ರೀವಿಷ್ಣುವಿನ ಪೂಜೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ‘ನಮಸ್ತೆ ಬಹುರೂಪಾಯ
ವಿಷ್ಣವೇ ನಮಃ|’ ಎನ್ನುವ ಮಂತ್ರವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸಬೇಕು. ಅನಂತರ
ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ದಕ್ಷಿಣೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಬೇಕು, ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದರೆ ಇತಿಹಾಸ, ಪುರಾಣ ಮುಂತಾದ
ಗ್ರಂಥಗಳನ್ನು ಬ್ರಾಹ್ಮಣರಿಗೆ ದಾನವೆಂದು ನೀಡಬೇಕು. ಈ ಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲ
ಪಾಪಗಳು ನಾಶವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ, ಸಂಕಟಗಳು ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,ಆಯುಷ್ಯವೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು
ಧನಧಾನ್ಯಗಳ ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.’ ಈ ದಿನ ಯಾವ ವಾರವಿರುತ್ತದೆಯೋ, ಆ ವಾರದೇವತೆಯ
ಪೂಜೆಯನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು.

ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಧ್ವಜವನ್ನು ಏರಿಸುವುದು
ದೊಡ್ಡ ಕೋಲಿನ ತುದಿಗೆ ಹಸಿರು ಅಥವಾ ಹಳದಿ ಬಣ್ಣದ ಜರಿಯ ಖಣವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ
ಸಕ್ಕರೆಯ ಗಂಟು, ಬೇವಿನ ಚಿಗುರೆಲೆ, ಮಾವಿನ ಎಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಂಪು ಹೂವುಗಳ ಹಾರವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ
ಮೇಲೆ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿಯ ಅಥವಾ ತಾಮ್ರದ ಕಲಶದಿಂದ ಶೃಂಗರಿಸಿ ಧ್ವಜವನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅದರ
ಮುಂದೆ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ರಂಗೋಲಿ ಹಾಕುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ‘ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಧ್ವಜಾಯ ನಮಃ|’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ
ಸಂಕಲ್ಪಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಪೂಜೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಎರಡನೆಯ ದಿನದಿಂದ ಈ ಕಲಶವನ್ನು ನೀರು ಕುಡಿಯಲು
ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಬೇಕು, ಸೂರ್ಯಾಸ್ತದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಲ್ಲದ ನೈವೇದ್ಯವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ ಧ್ವಜವನ್ನು
ಕೆಳಗಿಳಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
