How to test 7.9.0? The problem with 7.8.0 is fixed if you first install 7.7.0
then upgrade. So perhaps 7.9 is also broken but works because of prior install
of 7.7

Which database? There was only one option in the pull-down menu, SQL Lite
One more bit of information for you: The 7.7.0 AppImage works just fine. I
just finished downloading the "face recognition"
