I marked it as a duplicate because it's the same issue. It's just broken again
with latest NetworkManager as they changed connection type for tun (vpn)
connections.

Did you receive any update meanwhile? Maybe after NM was restarted then it
registered that connection and works now as it should.
The log from dmesg is not relevant.

Looks like networkmanager-qt in Ubuntu was build against older NetworkManager
version which got then updated. You should report this to your distro packagers
and ask them to rebuild nm-qt to enable new features/proper

Yes, I need to see the output when the applet is empty. Anyway, this looks like
an issue in NetworkManager. If NM doesn't show any available wireless
connection before it gets restarted, then also the applet won't sho
