Bug ID: 459211 Summary: Screen turns black when connecting HDMI, only cursor remains Classification: Unclassified Product: KScreen Version: master Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: common Assignee: kscreen-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: m...@ratijas.tk Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 152100 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=152100&action=edit kscreen-kwin black screen with HDMI SUMMARY Sometimes when connecting an external monitor or TV via HDMI I get a black screen where only cursor is visible (and it's changing as if it's really hovering over different UI elements!) Today it's consistent. Every time I plug in HDMI cable, the screen turns black like that. But when I disconnect it, everything returns to normal — except windows' geometries: they mostly become when thin vertically. I collected journal logs with KWin debugging enabled. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect HDMI cable. 2. Feel despair. 3. Disconnect HDMI cable. OBSERVED RESULT Black screen when connected, messed up window layout after disconnection. EXPECTED RESULT Second monitor is connected as normal.
