            Bug ID: 469022
           Summary: Selected area bleaches text
    Classification: Applications
           Product: Spectacle
           Version: 23.04.0
          Platform: openSUSE
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: General
          Assignee: noaha...@gmail.com
          Reporter: pa...@blueoakdb.com
                CC: k...@david-redondo.de
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
Hi,

After selecting /Rectangular Region/, Spectacle overlays a light background
over the entire screen. With a web page with a white background and black(ish)
text, the text is washed out. Any text within the rectangular region is washed
out further.

I'm attaching a tar-ball with annotated images:

$ tar -cvf example.1.tar example.1
example.1/
example.1/01_original.jpg
example.1/02_spectacle_running_b4_capture.jpg
example.1/03_specactle_running_defining_area.jpg

Changing /Use light background/ makes the problem worst. :(

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Select /Breeze Dark/ theme - just in case this is the problem.
2. Go to the test website that has a white background with dark text -
https://www.npr.org
3. Start `spectacle` and select `Rectangular Region` - notice the dark text is
bleached.
4. Select part of the text, notice the text in the region is washed out.

OBSERVED RESULT

** This is somewhat redundant as I mentioned above what's happening. But here
it is ... :) **

After selecting `Rectangular Region`, spectacle creates an overlay which
bleaches the test website's dark text when the background is white.

When continuing to select the region, the text in the region is washed out.

EXPECTED RESULT

The text should be visible when the background is white and the text is black.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
