            Bug ID: 388298
Summary: automatic scroll of panorama pictures within viewer
           Product: digikam
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: openSUSE RPMs
                OS: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org
          Reporter: michael.nos...@gmx.de
  Target Milestone: ---

I often take a panoramic shot with my Sony DSLR, thus I have a lot of them. I
use digikam to browse my shots. Panorams are displayed properly, but one has to
manually scroll around within the panorama.

My wish: Support automatic scrolling of panoramas.

Of course there are many open questions in handling my wish. I try to suggest
some answers to them:
Howto discover panorams? Provide a user option to set the aspect ratio to
discover panos. [My panorams e.g. all are tagged as panorama.]

Howto size the viewport? Use the current viewer's heigth and scale the pano's
height to fit.

In which speed should the pano be scrolled? Provide a user option to set scroll
speed.

Howto start/restart scrolling? I suggest an automatism: After viewing the pano
for a short time scrolling starts automatically. If the scrolling has reached
the opposite end, it stops for some time. Then it scrolls back and so forth.
Scrolling will be aborted by user switching to another picture. As well one
could provide play/pause/stop buttons.

Howto handle user interaction if he changes the viewport? I suggest to abort
scrolling in favour of resizing.

In which context should panoramas scroll automatically? I'd like to see it
within standard jpeg viewer. But I can imagine as well to incorporate it within
diashow. Maybe both:-)
