I am a bit confused. How is this bug solved with #398386? How can I change the
automated thumbnail digikam creates for videos with my own image (for example

This was the bug report: Bug 412880
With digiKam-6.4.0 a simple "F5" would be enough to create new thumbnails for
the currently active album. Or with the maintenance tool for the entire

That's great news.
But I still think that there should be a tool for the user to choose his own
video thumbnail (after the automatic mechanism). A thumbnail is useful for
quick recognition of the video
