I don't want to write anything wrong now, Gilles can correct me. You are
already on version 7.2.0 with a pre-release version. So you would only be
informed about a new version with digiKam-7.3.0. If you are using

I would have expected that looking for a final release would work. Looking
for the next pre-release brings a version from the new 7.3 tree.
The default setting for updates is set for stable releases. Thus, if someone
