Right now every song being played needs to be added to the playlist somewhere.
The plus button does an "append to playlist", so perhaps a "prepend to
playlist" action could be used, which immediately adds the

There could be simple "+" button in the toolbar "add to current playlist" if
you like the song. The song then would be added and selected in the playlist.
