It worked indeed after installing libqt5quick5
Would be great if you could add this suggestion inside the log of gcompris
itself (or even as an alert in the gcompris app itself)

When I run it from the installer it nows works fine !!

I see that the package "qt5-image-formats-plugin is already installed" :
qt5-image-formats-plugins is already the newest version (5.15.3-1).

Hi,
can you check if you have the qt5-image-formats-plugins package installed? It
seems the svg files are not loading, I'll dig more if it is not due to this
missing package.

Note that I've also tried building gcompris myself on master (commit
d1c379b291256c121f1f39dd40a2ea0dcc713dde), and it also had the same behavior.
