If Dolphin also doesn't show previews, then it sounds like there's an issue
with what packages you have installed. Please reinstall and/or upgrade Dolphin,
Gwenview, and KDE Frameworks. If you're using Ubuntu, consider switching to
Kubuntu, which is guaranteed to get the packaging right.
